Cabbage Rolls

Recipe from Homesteading Secrets . This is a basic recipe of a very common recipe across many cultures. If you find my reel with this recipe, I encourage you to skim through the comments there are many wonderful suggestions.

Ingredients:

1 medium-sized cabbage
1 cup cooked rice
1/2 lb ground meat or 1 cup cooked beans for a vegetarian option
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can of tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

Recipe:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the cabbage for a few minutes until the leaves are pliable. Remove from the water and set aside to cool.
In a skillet, sauté the onions and garlic until golden brown.
In a bowl, combine the cooked rice, ground meat or beans, sautéed onions and garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Carefully remove the cabbage leaves, one by one, and trim the tough center vein.
Spoon a small portion of the filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll them tightly, tucking in the sides as you go.
Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in a baking dish.
Pour the tomato sauce over the cabbage rolls, ensuring they are fully covered.
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for about 1 hour or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
