Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

This recipe is from my personal family cookbook. If is my great Grandmother’s recipe

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking soda
½ cup cocoa
1 cup warm water
1 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp instant coffee

Sift flour, sugar, baking soda and cocoa in a mixing bowl. Using a 2 cup measuring cup add warm water, add mayonnaise to the cup until it reaches the 2 cup line. Mix well together; add water mixture to flour mixture. Mix vanilla and coffee into batter. Pour into grease 8×8 pan and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until knife inserted into cake comes out clean.
